If you’re planning a walking holiday in the Lake District, Ambleside is a good place to start. Ambleside walks lists some of the more popular walks in the area. Ambleside is a great place to base yourself, because many walks can be done straight from your door. This site describes some great walks around Ambleside.

Within easy reach are mountain walks, lakeside walks, rivers and waterfalls walks. A great place for an eening stroll is along the riverbank near the old roman fort of Galava but if you're looking for views, Loughrigg and Wansfell Pike are right on your doorstep. Ambleside is also a good place to base yourself if you plan to walk the Windermere Way, which goes right around the lake.

Close at hand also are Langdale, the Old Man of Coniston and Helvellyn if you fancy something more challenging.

We will be adding more in the future including Wansfell and some shorter walks. If there’s a walk from Ambleside you would like to see included please get in touch.
